I’m Baaaccckkk!

Posted by John Warda  Published in Family

After 5 weeks away, I’m back home and trying to catch up on everything that’s going on in Internet Marketing.

Initially, I had planned a 2 week trip to spend some time with my father but when I got there I found out that my dad’s knee was acting up and he was in considerable pain. He’s 88 years old and has 2 types of arthritis in his knee. Please don’t ask me to name them ;-) .

He lives on a 60 acre farm, where I lived my entire childhood, way out in the boonies. When I was growing up, we had cows, chickens, geese, rabbits, bees, goats, dogs… many, many, many cats… and we even had an OWL. My father found an injured owl in the woods and took him in until it healed. I’m pretty sure I’m the only one in my town that had an owl as a kid :-) .

Today he only has a cat, dog and 14 rabbits. With his knee hurting so bad, he couldn’t even walk around to take care of his animals. We took my father to see the doctor and he prescribed some pills for him but he needed to stay off his feet and take it easy for awhile.

Well, because of my good old Internet Marketing business, I was able to take the 5 weeks off to get my pop’s healthy again.

The reason I haven’t blogged since then was because where my father’s farm is, there is only dial-up Internet available. I would turn on my computer and it would take me 10 minutes just for my browser to start up.

I did do some work while was there but only to help out on Michael Cheney’s helpdesk for a few hours every night. I really couldn’t do much else because the dial up charges are outrageous for the the amount of time it took to complete a task.

But anyways I’m back now and slowly getting back into my IM routine. I’m trying to catch up to this years 30 Day Challenge lessons (I’m sure I’ll be posting more about this in the near future) and I will be working on Michael Cheney’s coaching program.

I have a huge amount of work to catch up on since I was gone for so long but I don’t care because I got my dad feeling better and stronger by cooking his meals, cleaning his house and feeding his animals for him for 5 weeks.

Man, I think I need a vacation ;-) .

Just kidding. I’m just grateful that I’m in a position where I could do this for him.

Happy Father’s Day Dad!

Posted by John Warda  Published in Family

I called my Father today to wish him a Happy Father’s Day and we talked for a whole 5 minutes.

If you know my Father, that’s pretty good for him. He’s not much of a phone talker because he can never find anything to say.

I don’t know why… you sit down with him over a couple of beers and he’ll talk your head off for hours but put a phone to his mouth and you can barely get more than one sentence out of him.

I guess he’s just not used to it. He’s old school. No phones where he grew up and when he came to Canada from the Ukraine, the last thing that he wanted to do in this big beautiful country was to sit down on his butt and yap on the phone.

He would rather be outdoors fishing, hunting or just working on his farm. None of this girly talking on the phone stuff. He’s a real man’s man.

He’s a tough 88 year old Ukrainian/Canadian who has survived a war (got shot twice), worked 40 years as a uranium miner and busted a lot of heads in drunkin’ barroom brawls.

They don’t make em any tougher than my dad.

I call him every Friday to see how he’s doing. I’ve made sure to call him every week since my beautiful Mother passed away a few years ago. He never has much to say but he ALWAYS says “thanks for calling” at the end of each phone call.

Another thing he always says is “when are you coming to visit?”. Well, trying to get my business to where I want it to be means I have to work a lot of hours and I need my high speed Internet to be able to work fast. My father only has dial up where he is and that just wont cut it. I am looking into seeing if I can get wireless or a satellite Internet hook up while I’m visiting, so I can spend more time with him.

Family is more important to me than anything else so I want to spend as much time as I can with him.

So I’m planning a trip to visit my Dad in three weeks where we can have some drinks and talk till the cows come home :-)

Happy Father’s Day Dad!
